Stars in His Eyes...

Well, sorta, I mean really that's Jukebox Hero, but for some reason that song gets stuck in my head whnever I think about my new favorite game...Guitar Hero!!

When I first heard about it, all I could think was how lame it must be. Fake guitar, not really playing, to classic rock songs. Well, then I saw the Guitar Hero episode of South Park and damn that looked like fun. So I put in a request with Santa (aka Mrs. Dr. Wagner) and crossed my fingers. I tried it out at a store and I was TERRIBLE, just awful. Little kids were making fun of me, and some old lady rocked out Mississippi Queen after I was done...to humiliate me. But damn it was fun.

Santa came through and I've been rockin it ever since. Now I've made my way through most of the songs on Easy (except Slayer's Rainging Blood...what's the deal? That one seems impossible to me.) and have tried a couple on Medium, but even that seems a little much for me right now. But dude, Expert...I mean come on. Seriously. You have to be some kind of savant to pull off one of those. Case in point: Tipper Queen. Holy crap. Do a Google for Tipper Queen doing Jordan on Expert. It's unreal.

The best part of getting good at Guitar Hero is that the skills you learn playing the guitar controller have absolutely ZERO translation to actual musical ability. So basically you are perfecting your air guitar technique, which is totally worth it.

Now I hear the guitar tracks on songs and think about how fun and/or impossible they would be to play on GH.

The worst part is...I make those stupid guitar rocker faces when I'm playing it. But I do love rockin out to KISS and Metallica with my pretend guitar to the roar of the simulated video crowd!

Now I just gotta get Mrs. Dr. Wagner to play the part of the groupie...
